Music connects,
music defeats hatred and aggression

On November 7, 2022
in Windhoek, Namibia
took place an international music event.

Musicians from different countries came together to bring attention to what is going on in Ukraine, to tell the truth and encourage people not to stay away not only because the russian war against Ukraine has already affected the whole world but because the democratic, civilised world cannot ignore it when all human rights are violated.

Along with their traditional repertoire, the artists also played the music of Ukrainian composers, and of course the world most popular song of 2022 "Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow" was performed.
The audience admired the excellent performances:
- Ermelinda Thataone (Namibia)
- Jean Pierre NTSIKA (Congo Brazzaville)
- Jesus Lasso-Rey (Spain)
- Lebo Mothabeng (SA)
- Nikita aka Arow Spark (Russia)
- Polina Loubnina (UK)
- Sam Batola (Congo Brazzaville)
- Raymond Mupfumira (Zimbabwe)
- Valery aka Rocky-V (Zimbabwe)
- Zvi Gorelick (Namibia)

Sound engineer Jeandre Fisher aka DJ Fish.

The event was initiated and organized by Polina Loubnina, flute player from UK.

She moved to Windhoek (Namibia) and got deeply involved in Art and Music scene in Namibia, working on several projects with many Namibian and international artists (including Jackson Kaujeua, Willie Mbende, Axue, Archie van der Ploeg, theatre plays “The curse of the Black fish” (Expo-98 Lisbon), “Hair”, winning Music Makers competition in 1999, film project “Namibia crossings-Hambana sound company”.

From 2013 she lives in the UK, where she continues creating musical projects, as well as working on the new project in Namibia “Botselo” which will be launched soon.
During the russian invasion of Ukraine, Polina took a strong stand against the aggression, helping refugees, organising fundraising concerts, producing music together with Ukrainian artists.

"I believe in music! Music saves lives, music connects, music deletes borders and prejudices, music defeats hatred and aggression, music builds bridges and creates beauty and understanding, love and life! Join me and my friends for the good course. I met more than a hundred refugees fleeing the brutal war in Ukraine. They are all just normal people with their own stories of happiness and problems of normal day-to-day life, which abruptly stopped on the 24th of February. Many of them lost their family members, their houses, their sense of future, sense of life, faith in humanity… But when we got together playing music, singing and dancing their eyes shined with fire of life again and this is one of the best moments of my life. Let’s stand with Ukraine fighting for freedom, independence and life!"
