We attended Strand Market at Strand Hotel Swakopmund - Namibia dedicated to
Namibian Independence Day (March, 21).

We decided to use the opportunity of a local markets dedicated to the Independence Day of Namibia and to introduce the Ukrainian stall with Ukrainian traditional things for sale while raising awareness about the war in Ukraine and talking to people who are willing to learn more.

Some people came without any questions just to donate. Some people wanted to know more about Ukraine.

People also could to find out what Ukraine and Namibia have in common and tried to answer the quiz.

We were very pleased that our visitors also asked where on the internet they could find more information for a better understanding of Ukraine and how they could help us as well where to find information on Namibia and other African countries' relationship with Ukraine.

"During all my years on the road I’ve been interacting with many people, and most of the questions our conversations would start with were “Where are you from?” or “Which country is the flag on your bike of?” In some remote areas people would not even hear about Ukraine or at least where it is located, and I would explain them.

These days everything changed, now everyone knows and heard about Ukraine at least from the news. Sadly… but also something paving us the future of a free country recognized and respected by the whole world.

Most of people I’m meeting and talking to now want to know more and understand more, especially that there’s a lot of confusion around and false information too. Even more so in the continents and countries which are far away, and many people there tend to overlook the importance and potential effect of the events on the other side of the world." -

We were most impressed by one little girl. She said, "I want to buy something." She took a hair clip for N$40. She gave me 100 and said, "Keep the change, I know that these moneys will go to Ukraine." I offered to her something else but she said "No, I don't want. It would be better this way."

All the little things presented at our stall: hair bands, earrings, flags, wreaths, masks, other decorations, all in Ukrainians colors -  were made locally by the local ladies whose help we appreciate a lot.

"I’m grateful to people of Namibia I’ve met so far for their support and prayers for Ukraine. They call Namibia the land of the brave, and we call Ukraine the land of freedom, and in this we are united.

I believe that all the good vibe and prayers though may not seem to bring any visual effect which you can see and touch but it builds up the positive energy having this subtle influence and supporting the hands and the spirit which will definitely bring the victory to Ukraine.

With every brick of support, no matter how big or small, Ukraine will overcome."
